MY NEWEST BLACK FINISH - Gentleman Black
Sometimes when you finish a piece you just feel like it's so you... this is one that has completely transformed from what it was when it was brought to me, into this stately, upscale and very Refurbished Gentleman look. I just couldn't help but give it a name suitable for how it made me feel finally seeing it in pictures. So this finish I'm calling, "Gentleman Black".
This piece started out in a bit of rough shape, having been brought to me previously painted. And we originally thought I could paint over what was there, but after some testing, the integrity of the original finish was not good enough to be painted over. So as you may have seen in some sneak peeks, this got sanded down and primed for a brand new look. I'll Blog another "Behind The Scenes" of how it transformed very soon.
This was my very first piece using Dixie Belle Paint Company Caviar and I have to say, it's incredible. A true, deep, rich black and hopefully my pictures can show that to y'all here. After two coats of Caviar I distressed some, mainly hitting the corners and edges and not trying to overdo it, just to give a hint of the freshly prepped wood from below and show a lil age. We decided to Clear Wax the bottom and Gator Hide the top for added protection. The hardware got a lil bling using Rub & Buff Pewter to really finish off this overall elegant look. It's clean and simply, just one color, but it's a stunner and I couldn't be happier with how it ended up... especially knowing where it was when I started and the work that it took to get to this. So this was a custom order, for my new client and friend Deb. Thanks for trusting me to breathe new life into it... and... you've got another set of pictures coming for your second piece I'm finishing up now. Another done in Caviar, with a lil twist that I think everyone, including you Deb, will enjoy!
